UGCA 193 crosses this Hubble view on a steep diagonal, its pale blue spiral form emerging gradually from a field of near-black. The galaxy is brightest towards the central-right portion of the frame, where an elongated white glow gathers within the softer blue structure. From there, a faint extension reaches towards the upper left, becoming increasingly diffuse until its outer light seems to dissolve into the surrounding darkness.

Classified as a spiral galaxy in the Local Universe, UGCA 193 lies in the direction of the constellation Sextans and has a measured redshift of z=0.002. Yet the image’s power rests as much in its restraint as in its subject: the galaxy is not isolated against an empty backdrop, but surrounded by a fine, irregular scattering of white, blue and occasional gold points. Fainter smudges and minute arcs add further layers to the field without distracting from the cool, luminous sweep of UGCA 193 itself.

A closer look

At large scale, the galaxy reveals subtle changes in density and texture. Its central light is compact but not sharply bounded; white passes into icy blue, then into a slender, mist-like outer structure. Close to the bright centre, a small curved feature appears to turn gently away from the principal body, while the upper-left extension is quieter and more attenuated, giving the galaxy an unusually delicate visual balance.

The surrounding field is equally nuanced. Tiny points vary from crisp white to muted yellow, while dimmer patches hover just above the black background. A more concentrated gathering of light appears in the upper region, and the lower part of the frame contains several faint marks that are easily missed at first. These restrained details give the image depth: UGCA 193 remains the clear focus, but it sits within a much richer field of visible light.

Choosing the right size and finish

Fine art can feel intimate at smaller sizes and more architectural at larger ones. Use the room preview, model image and size guide to judge the scale of the piece in your space.

For exact dimensions, specialist framing or a larger project, ask our workshop for advice.

The model in the listing images is holding the 16x16in (40x40cm) version of this art print.

Where personalisation is available, you can add a short title or dedication, or one considered visual detail. See examples of personalised artwork.

Choose Original for colour that remains faithful to the source artwork, or Aged for a warmer antique character. See examples of our Aged artwork.

Every piece is printed to museum-grade archival standards using fade-resistant pigment inks on acid-free matte paper. Choose an art print, framed art print or canvas using the finish options above.

Framed art prints use crystal-clear optical acrylic for excellent clarity, reduced reflections and safer delivery. They arrive professionally framed and ready to hang.

Selected artworks can be produced at statement sizes up to 3 metres (10ft). Custom sizing and specialist framing are also available; contact our workshop if the exact option you need is not listed.
